American politician, lawyer and noted orator, the peerless leader of the Democratic Party. A member of the U.S. House of Representatives, he ran unsuccessfully as a candidate for U.S. Presidency in 1896, 1900 and 1908. Bryan formerly worked as a newspaper editor and lawyer.
