American all-star baseball pitcher who led the National League with strikeouts and no-hit games for the majority of his baseball career. He began his professional career in 1942. Spahn received the Young Memorial award in 1957. With an illustrious career and a record-setting achievement of most hits for a left-hander, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1965. He played for the Boston/ Milwaukee Braves (1942, 1946–1964), New York Mets (1965), and San Francisco Giants (1965). Spahn died of natural causes on 24 November 2003 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
