American Country-Western singer who together with Eddie Montgomery founded the music duo Montgomery Gentry in 1999. The duo was known for its Southern rock influences, and collaborated with Charlie Daniels, Toby Keith, Five for Fighting, and members of The Allman Brothers Band. Montgomery Gentry released six studio albums for Columbia Records' Nashville division. These albums produced more than twenty chart singles for the duo on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including several number 1 hits. Gentry died in a helicopter crash on 8 September 2017 at approximately 1:00 p.m. while taking a helicopter tour of Medford, New Jersey, where he and Montgomery were set to perform that evening.
