French translator and ethnologist. Youngest daughter of the American writer Eugene Jolas and his wife, Maria McDonald, a translator, she moved to the USA with her parents, 1940-1946. She is the sister of the composer Betsy Jolas. She was the wife of the poet André du Bouchet and the companion of René Char. She died on 4 September 1999 in Vaison-la-Romaine.
