Princess of Baden by birth and the Duchess of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha as the wife of Ernst II. She was born the eldest child of Leopold, Grand Duke of Baden and his wife Princess Sophie of Sweden. Princess Alexandrine married Ernst on 13 May 1842 in Karlsruhe. The marriage would prove to be childless. Ernest died on 22 August 1893 after a short illness.
