French painter who also became an art dealer and an expert in jewelery and goldsmithing. On the death of his father, 8-year-old Pierre Ucciani left Ajaccio and settled in Paris with his mother's family. In 1879 he married the wealthy Hortense Bégard, daughter of an important family of jeweler-watchmaker-goldsmiths. After the death of his father-in-law and the elder of his brothers-in-law, he and his wife took over the management of the Bégard company, in 1883. As a painter, he was a pupil of Paul-Désiré Trouillebert. They became friends, and painted countryside landscapes together. Tired of his infidelities, his wife Hortense obtained a divorce in 1896. In 1902, he married Émilie Lafontaine. He spent Summers at his villa in Cabourg, and when widowed, at his daughter Marie-Renée Ucciani's home in Villers-sur-Mer. Father and daughter painted together at the seaside and countryside of the Pays d'Auge. They returned to Corsica in 1936 and 1937. He died on 18 February 1939 in Neuilly-sur-Seine at age 87.
