French executioner, he became chief executioner after the death of Jean-François Heidenreich. A chief executioner was called Monsieur de France. Nicolas was only eleven years old when he started helping his father who was also an executioner. He worked in the Vaucluse and the Jura before landing in Paris. Here in the capital of France he decapitated about one head per month. He died at the age of 66 and worked 55 years at the service of the Ministry of Justice. His successor was Louis Deibler.
