American figure skater, an Olympics medalist and winner of several national and world championships. Kwan's parents emigrated to the US from Hong Kong. At the age of 13, in 1994, she finshed eighth in the World Championships, attracting attention for her grace and skill and placing as an alternate for the US Olympic team. Kwan won the Women's Figure Skating National and World Championship in 1996. She has since World Championships n four subsequent years, in 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2003. In addition she has chalked up four World Championships in Ladies Figure Skating. In 1998 she took a Silver medal in the Nagano (Japan) Olympics. Link to Wikipedia biography
