American soprano singer, the middle child of the three siblings known as The Andrews Sisters, a close harmony singing group of the swing and boogie-woogie eras. Throughout their long career, the sisters sold well over 75 million records. Their 1941 hit "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" can be considered an early example of rhythm and blues or jump blues. Maxene Andrews married music publisher Lou Levy in 1941. They separated in 1949. Levy was the sisters' manager from 1937 to 1951. She died on 21 October 1995, from a heart attack while in Cape Cod.
