Native American musician. From 1964 to 1969 he was a drummer and vocalist for The Mothers of Invention, a California rock band that served as the backing musicians for Frank Zappa. He also played with Muffin Men (a Frank Zappa tribute band based in Liverpool, England); Captain Beefheart; Geronimo Black; The Grandmothers; Black, Brown and Blue; and Strange News From Mars. Black was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2008, and died on November 1, 2008 in Siegdorf, Germany. Link to Wikipedia biography
