American actor who was onscreen from 1948 in films that included "Sunset Blvd.," "Dragnet" and "Pete Kelly Blues." His last film, which he also produced and directed, was entitled "The Last Time I Saw Archie," 1961. From movies he went on to primarily become a producer of TV shows, including "Emergency!"
