Prussian military general, German royalty, and the last reigning grand duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. He was the third child and eldest son of Adolf Friedrich V, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg, and his wife, the former Princess Elisabeth of Anhalt. He succeeded as Grand Duke on the death of his father on 11 June 1914, just a few weeks before the outbreak of World War I. Adolf Friedrich VI did not marry or have issue.
