Tibetan filmmaker (actor, director, writer). He is the son of the famous Tibetan Buddhist master Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoché and his British wife Diana Judith Mukpo. At three years old, he was identified as the reincarnation of Jamgon Kongtrul of Sechen, one of his father's mentors, who died in prison in Tibet around 1960. During his 1976 visit to the United States, the 16th Karmapa confirmed Gesar Mukpo's identity and inducted him in a ceremony at Berkeley, California. Gesar Mukpo has lived in Boulder, Colorado, and in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. His film credits include Tulku (2009, director, screenwriter, actor_, Crazy Wisdom: The Life & Times of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche (2011 actor), and Warrior Songs: King Gesar (1997, actor).
