Brazilian lawyer, author and politician who served as Minister of Justice from 1985 to 1986. In 2009, he launched the book Daquilo que eu sei - Tancredo e a transição democrática (What I Know - Tancredo and the Democratic Transition), in which he recounts, through his personal memories, the historical period of the Diretas Já (Direct (Elections) Now movement) and the overthrow of the military regime. In the book, Lyra explains his role as one of the articulators of Tancredo Neves' election. The book is composed of notes and reflections by the author, notably on the country's political scene in the 1980s. Lyra died in São Paulo on 14 February 2013 at the age of 74.
