German physicist specializing in Applied Optics, known for his inventions that enhanced the microscope. He developed a binocular tube for microscopes which was introduced in 1913 with great success. The binocular tube made it possible to divide the light from a lens onto both eyes without reducing the numerical aperture. He also developed a mirror condenser. Jentzsch dealt with diffraction theory, and several articles in the Handbuch der Physik (Manual of Physics) were authored by him. He was the older brother of the mathematician Robert Jentzsch.
