German conductor whose long career took him to the Rühlscher Oratorienverein in Frankfurt-am-Main, the municipal orchestra in Wiesbaden, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Hague/Scheveningen Festival, the Dresden Philharmonic, l'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Zürich, the re-opening of the Salzburg Festival in 1946 in Paris, and the festivals of Holland, Lucerne, Aix-en-Provence and Montreux. He died on 7 January 1967 at the age of 86 in his home at Corseaux-sur-Vevey, Switzerland, and was buried in Wiesbaden, as an honorary citizen of that city. Link to Wikipedia biography
