Norwegian pilot and officer (lieutenant) of the Royal Norwegian Navy Air Service during World War II. At the outbreak of the war, Tingulstad was stationed at the Navy Air Service on neutrality watch. In 1941 he flew to Great Britain where he served at various air stations, ultimately at the 330 Squadron which escorted convoys over the Atlantic. In 1942 Tingulstad participated in a rescue operation which led him to be awarded with the War Cross with Sword, the highest ranking Norwegian gallantry decoration. On 5 November 1942 he was out searching for three life boats from a torpedoed convoy. His plane never returned. https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bj%C3%B8rn_Stray_Tingulstad
