Norwegian painter. He was known as a colourist, one who's emphasising the colours. His father was professor of zoology in St. Petersburg. After WW I and his father's death in 1917, Schultz studied in Paris 1919-1928, where he worked under Fauvist artist Othon Friesz and painter Henrik Sørensen. He also had stays in Italy, in 1938, and an exhibition there in 1955. His breakthrough came in 1949. In 1955 he was appointed professor at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts, and was its director 1958-1965.
