British politician, a Member of Parliament returned by general election on 2/23/1989 to replace Brittan Leon who resigned 12/31/1988. Hague replaced John Redwood as Secretary of State for Wales in July 1995. He is believed to be the youngest Cabinet Minister this century in British politics. He first came to prominence as a precocious 16-year-old schoolboy with a rousing speech at the Conservative Party Conference in 1977. As of late 1996, he was serving as Welsh Secretary and on 6/19/1997, he was elected leader of the Conservative Party. In 2001 he was succeeded by George Iain Duncan Smith as the Conservative Party Leader. Link to Wikipedia biography
