Prime Minister of the Netherlands 1948-1958.Member of the Social Democratic Worker's Party.Later State Secretary.Counts as "father of social reforms" in the Netherlands.He was in 4 cabinets,questions with pensions and international integration, children rights and low income families with their problems occupied him.He is still very popular in the Netherlands and reached an age of nearly 102 years.He knew Esperanto and got several awards (Honorary doctorate,Medal of Freedom,Order of the Netherlands Lion).In 1971 he had left his Party.Drees had 4 children;he died the 14 May 1988 in The Hague.
