Italian royalty born in Switzerland, the son of Italy's last king, Umberto II and Princess Marina; grandson of Vittorio Emanuele III. Heir to Italy's throne, Emanuele is in exile and barred from stepping on Italian soil. An only child raised in Switzerland by his father, 64 and his Swiss-born mother, 66, he is waging an aggressive campaign to return, lobbying the European Court of Human Rights, the Vatican and the Italian Parliament.
