American singer and noted family, her brother is the blues musician known as Taj Mahal. Of African-American heritage, she emigrated to France in 1979 where she established a reputation for her talent. In 1985 she appeared with Gilbert Bécaud in concert. A few movie roles ensued. In 1990 she formed a group called Fredericks Goldman Jones with fellow musicians Jean-Jacques Goldman and Michael Jones. With five albums to their credit and international tours, the group worked together for 10 years. She suffered a fatal heart attack in Dakar, Senegal on June 7, 2001 and and is buried in Montmartre Cemetery, Paris. Link to Wikipedia biography
