Uma Thurman

American actress, daughter of a Swedish psychotherapist mom (who was once married to Timothy Leary) and an American dad who was a professor of Asian religion. Raised to do her own thinking and be her own person, Uma got her own apartment in Manhattan when she was 16. Tall and willowy, Thurman began her career of modeling while still in high school and launched her film career in 1987 in a low-budget thriller, "Kiss Daddy Goodnight." Some of her noted films reaching star status were, "Dangerous Liaisons" in 1988 and "Henry and June" in 1990. In March 1955, she was nominated for an Oscar in her role in "Pulp Fiction." Thurman's marriage to 12-year-older actor Gary Oldman lasted only 18 months; they divorced in early 1993. She met actor Timothy Hutton in March 1995, when they worked together on "Beautiful Girls" and they began a relationship for a short period. On 5/01/1998 she walked down the aisle in an oversized traditional wedding dress and tied the knot with companion since 1996, Ethan Hawke. Their daughter Maya Ray Thurman-Hawke was born 7/08/1998. The couple had met while filming the sci-fi thriller "Gattaca," 1996. Shortly before Maya was born they bought a $1.25 million four-bedroom house a half-hour drive north of New York City. On 1/15/2002, "Tuesday morning," their son was born in NY. The couple still have a Greenwich Village apartment that has been on the market for some time, for a reported $3.6 million. The lovely actress, with a new hit movie out called "Kill Bill,"separated from her actor-husband of five years, Ethan Hawke.
