Howard K Stern

American attorney who enjoyed some fame as lover and lawyer of Anna Nicole Smith. Although the attention-seeking couple exchanged vows in the Bahamas on September 28, 2006 their marriage was never legally accepted. He allegedly was in the hospital room when her son died. After her death on February 8, 2007, Stern claimed Smith's baby daughter as his own. He took custody of her but other men claimed paternity, probably in the hopes of getting the huge estate that the child would likely inherit. Paternity tests later that year (in April 2007) showed that he was not the biological father of the girl. On June 19, 2007 a Los Angeles judge named Stern the executor of Smith's estate. Two years after Smith's death, Stern was arrested mid-March 2009 in Whittier CA and charged with conspiring with two doctors, also charged, to give her large doses of drugs. He was allowed bail of $20,000. On October 28, 2010 he became a convicted felon when he was found guilty of two counts of conspiracy for his role in obtainingand providing drugs implicated in Smith's demise.
