Robertson has been inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Songwriters. As a film soundtrack producer and composer, Robertson is best known for his numerous collaborations with director Martin Scorsese. Robertson's working relationship with Scorsese began with the influential rockumentary film The Last Waltz (1978), and continued through numerous dramatic films such as Raging Bull (1980) and Casino (1995). Robertson has also worked on many other soundtracks for film and television. Robertson co-authored "Legends, Icons And Rebels: Music That Changed The World" with his son, Sebastian Robertson and colleagues Jim Guerinot and Jared Levine.
