Miley Cyrus

American actress and singer-songwriter, established as a teen idol with the success of the Hannah Montana franchise, a former Disney Channel sitcom in which she portrayed the role of Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana from 2006 to 2011. Cyrus focused on her acting career with several television and film appearances throughout 2011 and 2012. Cyrus later signed a recording contract with RCA Records, and generated controversy by cultivating a sexually explicit public image while promoting her fourth studio album Bangerz (2013). Its singles "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball" were promoted with controversial music videos; the latter became her first number-one hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. While filming The Last Song in June 2009, Cyrus began a relationship with her co-star Liam Hemsworth (born 13 January 1990). After three years of having a on-again, off-again relationship, the couple announced their engagement in June 2012. They lived together in Los Angeles but ended their relationship in September 2013. They rekindled their relationship in March 2016, and became re-engaged that October. In November 2018, Cyrus revealed on social media that her and Hemsworth's home had burned down in the Woolsey Fire. Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth married on 23 December 2018. On 10 August 2019, Cyrus announced their separation. Eleven days later, Hemsworth filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences." Cyrus is an outspoken animal rights advocate, and adopted a vegan lifestyle in 2014.
