American businesswoman from a noted family, the eldest child of Senator Barry Goldwater and his first wife Margaret "Peggy" Johnson, wealthy daughter of a prominent industrialist. Joanne Goldwater, a mother of four, runs Goldwater’s Foods of Arizona. Her only son, Ty Ross, is a former Zoli model, openly gay and HIV positive, and the one who inspired Barry Goldwater "to become an octogenarian proponent of gay civil rights."
