German organic chemist and lecturer who won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1930. As a young man, he studied chemistry and medicine simultaneously. He was lecturing on internal medicine in 1912, physiology in 1913. A professor of medical chemistry from 1916, and from 1921 until his death, he held the Chair of Organic Chemistry in Munich. He committed suicide in Munich on 31 March 1945 after his institute and his work were destroyed during the last days of World War II. Link to Wikipedia biography
